White River High School Photojournalism

White River Photojournalism Club 2008-2009

Photojournalism tells the story of the world around us in images. We strive for artful composition and technique, while maintaining comprehensive accuracy to the event, person, or subject matter. Nothing is staged or posed in photojournalism. We do not create propaganda. While photographing subjects we do not intentionally contribute to, alter, or seek to alter or influence events. We capture a moment from a perspective that distills the essense of the time, situation, emotion and weight of life. We do not pursuade or direct interpretation through the art of photography. We do not alter images electronically in any way that change the story they tell. We only lighten, darken, saturate and sharpen images in the attempt to make them closer to the reality that was seen with the eye. We are after the powerful, moving truth.
